  1. Great article, however for those using the Cinnamon DE (at least) all you need to do is go into the panel settings and start a second panel. I prefer two panels, one – Windows-like – at the bottom, and another panel at the top on which I keep all my most/often used apps/programs. Quite handy and productive. I used to use Docky until I realized the Cinnamon DE can do it without the need for a third party dock. (I’m not sure how many other DE’s offer this. I think Mate and Gnome do.) This actually works even better on my latest laptop, with the 15.5 inch screen, which is enough screen real estate for the two panels AND two tiled ‘windows’ to work in.
