5 Best Looking Linux Distros That You Will Love in 2024

I have been using Windows OS for a very long time, primarily since childhood, when I first learned what a computer was. I also used Mac OS for development work. However, Linux has changed my experience in OS and Desktop environments.

Though Windows OS is very easy to use and a great OS, MacOS stands out because of its beautiful look and cutting-edge features. However, both systems have created a closed chain that can’t be broken or modified if any users want to, as per their requirements and interests. Both systems hinder me from making my system as good as it should be.

So what do I do if I want to flourish my creativity and make a bloat-free system? Here, the answer is to use open source Linux, which provides me with a smooth, customizable, user-friendly OS and a beautifully crafted, best-looking system for my development work and daily use.

Best Looking Linux Distros

Now, I am going to make a list of the 5 Best-Looking Linux distros that I believe many of our new Linux users may like. But if you are a power user, then I would prefer that you follow the Best Linux Distro that I recommend using.

Bodhi Linux

Bodhi is a lightweight Ubuntu-based derivative that offers Moksha, an Enlightenment-17-based desktop environment. This system provides decidedly fewer applications pre-installed, but that doesn’t mean it supports less usability and flexibility.

Bodhi is a beautiful-looking OS with a regularly updated repository. It’s based on Ubuntu LTS, so users get all the cutting-edge features and stable support.

Main Features

  • Based on Ubuntu. Offers the Best Linux Experience.
  • The software uses the Enlightenment Foundation Libraries (EFL) rather than GTK or Qt, etc., so it has a unique yet consistent look.

Many Linux users might be astonished to see Chrome OS on the list. But believe me, Chrome OS is one of the best-looking Linux distros, and it is entirely out of the box in terms of design, desktop environment, app process, cloud-based synchronization, and much more.

Chrome OS is a Linux kernel-based open source OS that has been designed and crafted to keep in mind those users who remain online most of the time. It’s made cloud-based to offer a simple, fast, and secure computing experience to the users. Moreover, this OS is created by tech giant Google Inc.

  1. Bodhi is as many people seem to be saying a pretty bad distro. I’m a dyed in the wool MacOS nut, but I do like to play with Linux (started with Mandrake v8), and we have Windoze 10 in the house because of our son (daughter is following in my footsteps – MacOS).

Elementary I agree is a nice package, and one I do go back to from time to time. PearOS when it was around was my favourite, but sadly no longer an option. Deepin 15.x is good, and one I find a pleasure to use, the install is smooth (as are most these days to be fair). The ONLY problem I have with Deepin is the download agony of the ISO … has to be the slowest around, but once you have it installed it’s great with some nice system tools and management features

  2. Well fellows, in this world today, with “Ransom” attacks increasing daily, there is a real need for a smooth transition escape hatch for the MILLIONS of Windoze users needing a “Windows-like” crossover.
It appears to me that only one or two options are out there as serious transition aids for us millions: ZORIN and Linux Mint, based on many, many reports here on Distrowatch – a really fantastic resource!

I’m going to download and test both of these and I THINK in a VDISK ???
In particular, I’m going to need to delete miles of Windows files on 5 various aged and sized Laptops and a VDISK on a Bigger HP Box with 16G Ram and a 500G Static Drive.
Wish me luck and any advice!
    I’ll be back…….. 🙂

  3. Deepin 15.x and KDE Plasma. Elementary and Cinnamon are very nice, as well. Ubuntu Budgie is nicer looking than Solus. Bohdi? Ouch!

  4. Als minimal install of Debian GNOME with paper icon theme would blow them all away. Solus is nice though. Elementary to buggy for my taste

  5. You lost me with Linux Mint at #5. Yes, if you were writing this article 7 years ago, I’d agree that a distro looking like Win7 is very attractive to some, but mint has hardly changed in that time. If you were gonna include one Windows looking distro, maybe KDE Neon would have been a better choice. As for ChromeOS at number 3 it’s only Linux, technically by name, and nobody reading this would interested and that’s pretty lazy of you. Anyway, this superficial fluff is all subjective anyway. I get that OSX look of Elementary is also attractive to some, but not for many. Here’s my subjective favourites of polished distros in no particular order: KDE Neon, Solus Budgie, Antergos Gnome, Archlabs, Peppermint OS, Nitrux OS, Linux Deepin, ElementaryOS…

  6. You didn’t even include the best — Deepin.
And to include Bodhi?? I realise these things can be subjective, but Bodhi is hideous.

    • Deepin OS is one of the best looking Linux Distros out there. No doubt in this regard. Our list is only for 5 Distros. But again I agree with you.
