Kdenlive 23.08.3: Fixes and Improvements for Keyframe and Audio Issues

Kdenlive 23.08.3 is the latest version of the video editing software that continues to focus on stabilizing its performance and improving its functionality. This release cycle is preparing for the upcoming upgrade to Qt6 by implementing various fixes and improvements.

One of the significant enhancements in this release includes the faster importing of clips, which is part of the performance improvement task. A new PNG with alpha render profile has been added, and the video with alpha render profiles has been fixed.

Time remapping can now be applied to sequences, allowing users to adjust the speed of the clip and create more dynamic content. Another notable improvement is that Whisper, which is the Speech-to-Text feature, now works on all systems.

There are other fixes related to timeremap, which have been fixed to ensure keyframes are not lost. Another important fix relates to replacing clips, which previously caused the audio index from the previous clip to be retained, thereby breaking audio. This has now been resolved.

Other fixes include ensuring enough audio tracks for AV groups when creating a sequence from selection, fixing the timeline duration after creating a sequence from timeline selection, and ensuring the project duration is updated correctly when moving the last clip of a track to another non-last position.

The new version also fixes subtitle styling when switching to another sequence and resolves a crash that occurred when dropping a URL to the library. Additionally, the import speed has been improved by not checking if every file is on a remote drive when dropping multiple files in the project bin.

There are also several fixes related to roto-scoping, including not automatically adding a second keyframe at the cursor position when creating the initial shape and not auto-adding keyframes until two keyframes are created. The timeline clips are also properly adjusted on sequence resize.

Other fixes include ensuring the project duration is correctly updated on the hide/show track and fixing issues related to resizing clips with mix test and resizing clip start to frame 0 of timeline not correctly working in some zoom levels.

Overall, the latest version of Kdenlive comes with several important fixes and improvements that make it a must-have for video editing enthusiasts and professionals alike.
