ONLYOFFICE has released version 9.1 of its Desktop Editors suite for Linux, Windows, and macOS, introducing significant upgrades across PDF editing, spreadsheet performance, and chart functionality. The update also enhances usability with smarter system integration and improved file handling.
The ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors 9.1 release delivers a focused set of productivity improvements for offline users who rely on the suite’s document, spreadsheet, presentation, and PDF editors. The update strengthens editing precision, security, and compatibility while streamlining workflow efficiency.
Across all editors, version 9.1 introduces external chart data support, allowing users to link or embed chart sources. Users can now enable or disable chart elements and apply the Explosion option for pie and doughnut charts. The update also adds HEIF image support, comment visibility configuration for resolved and open threads, and a color mode selector in print preview.
Desktop integrations improve as macOS gains spelling language detection, while Windows 10+ users can now control in-app notifications through the native “Notifications & Actions” panel.
The Document Editor now features a complete chart editor that directly opens embedded XLSX files instead of cached data, improving data accuracy. It adds MathML formula insertion for technical and scientific documents and HWPML format viewing, expanding cross-format compatibility. Section breaks can now occur within nested block content controls, improving document layout control.

The Spreadsheet Editor receives notable performance optimizations. Formula processing has been refined for mixed data types, while VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP calculations run faster with lower memory usage. Users can also configure text direction per cell, apply date filters in pivot tables, and use new Form Controls such as check boxes, combo boxes, and spin buttons.
A new Table Design tab centralizes formatted table settings, and sheets can now be renamed with a double-click. Formula entry has been enhanced with argument highlighting and new translations in Serbian (Cyrillic/Latin) and Traditional Chinese.
The Presentation Editor introduces a chart editor similar to that in the Document module, relocates Master Slide settings to a dedicated toolbar tab, and adds an audio/video player for macOS. The Forms module improves usability, renames interface elements for clarity (Preview and Manage Recipient Roles), and adds MathML formula support.
The PDF Editor stands out with a new Redact feature for permanently hiding sensitive information, additional annotation types, SmartArt, and chart support. Users can now copy and paste graphic elements and forms, enhancing visual editing flexibility.
The release also adds direct PDF and PPTX to TXT conversion and fixes a cross-site scripting vulnerability related to hyperlink processing, improving data safety. User can download the desktop editor version from the official page.
