Cosmo Cargo, the upcoming roguelite space strategy game, is now confirmed to support Linux alongside Windows and macOS. Players manage spaceship cargo to influence battles, combining tactical inventory strategy with fast-paced automated combat in a chaotic galaxy.
According to the official Steam page, players step into the role of a small rebel pilot navigating sectors of space while collecting equipment and preparing for unpredictable encounters.
Unlike traditional space games focused on fleet management or exploration alone, Cosmo Cargo centers its gameplay around a unique system where the contents of your ship become the core combat mechanic. Items gathered throughout each run form the foundation of your strategy.
Cosmo Cargo is designed as a PvE inventory autobattler roguelite, meaning every playthrough revolves around collecting gear and building powerful combinations that activate automatically during battles.
In the game’s story setup, the galaxy is being reshaped by a group known as the Administrators, an organization determined to eliminate disorder from the universe. Players join a rebellious faction attempting to stop their expansion before the galaxy loses its freedom.
Instead of commanding large fleets, players operate a single scrappy spacecraft filled with strange tools, weapons, and experimental devices discovered across different sectors of space. These items are placed within the ship’s limited storage grid.
Item placement inside the ship’s cargo grid directly influences combat outcomes, allowing certain combinations to trigger chain reactions, defensive abilities, or offensive attacks during encounters.
Because the system depends heavily on experimentation, each playthrough evolves differently. New gadgets can be purchased, traded, discovered in space, or occasionally taken from enemies, allowing players to continuously adapt their builds.
Exploration also introduces other characters who can join the player’s ship. These crew members bring their own abilities, expanding the range of strategies available during each run.
Recruitable crew members add unique powers that interact with the ship’s equipment, enabling unexpected item combinations and new combat approaches as players progress through different sectors.
As the game progresses, enemy encounters grow increasingly complex. Opponents may deploy unusual item builds of their own, forcing players to rethink how their cargo layout functions under pressure. The ultimate challenge arrives when players confront the organization’s leadership.
The game is currently being developed by Pixelnest Studio and is planned for release on Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms. However, the final launch date has not yet been announced.
For players interested in experimenting early, a demo version of the game is already available through independent platforms, allowing curious gamers to test its unusual mix of strategy, inventory puzzles, and roguelite progression.
With its focus on creative item combinations and unpredictable runs, Cosmo Cargo aims to deliver a different kind of space strategy experience, one where the real battlefield is not just the stars, but the messy cargo hold of your ship.
