How to Install WeChat Messaging App on Ubuntu Linux

sudo apt install snapd snapd-xdg-open

After that, you need to type the following command.

sudo snap install electronic-chat

This command will help you to open up a WeChat client. Type the following on terminal emulator

electronic-chat

It will take some time to open up for the first time. Now it will prompt you to scan a QR code to login into it.

Now you can use it from Ubuntu.

Uninstallation:

You can quickly remove WeChat by just merely typing the following command.

sudo snap remove electronic-wechat

Installing WeChat Via GitHub:

Github is an excellent source to download Linux based software. At first, download the WeChat installation file (Linux-x64.tar.gz) from GitHub. Then type the following command on the terminal emulator to extract it.

Tar xvf linux-x64.tar.gz

After extracting, use this command to start it.

./electronic-chat

Now it will promote you to log in with a QR code as we saw above.
