10 Best Roguelike Games for PC | Full of Dungeon Thrills

Still can’t come out of the darkest dungeons of the old-time roguelike games for PC? Then, you are not alone. Many of us still have the craving for those 2D or even 3D models’ dark dungeon platforms. This platform is another name of emotion we can never forget.

However, no need to forget. Instead, play some of the best roguelike games on your PC if you still have time to spare. As a dark dungeon gaming platform lover, I have checked a lot of roguelike games to make a solid list that I’m going to share in this article. So, keep reading to meet them briefly.

Your Must-try Roguelike Games for PC

For sure, there are thousands of roguelike games for PC out there. But that does not mean you will like them all. The pixel details and bearing games are the most irritating things you will possibly find in most games of this category. However, some real deals still carry the popularity of rogue-like PC games. Let’s meet them briefly:

1. Hades

Hades is a thrilling rogue-like dungeon crawler by SuperGiant Games. This game seamlessly blends elements from their renowned titles like Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre. The underworld is full of demons, and As Zagreus, Hades’ immortal son, you will have to escape it.

In this unique game, the run structure, reminiscent of Rogue Legacy, cleverly incorporates death as a mechanic rather than an end. However, you can enjoy Hades on Switch, PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. So, however you want it to play, Hades will be the best option for you.

2. Rogue Legacy 2

My personal favorite option is Rogue Legacy 2. This PC roguelike game gained immense popularity since its 2022 launch, surpassing its predecessor overnight. This game has a Metroidvania-style gaming environment where you’ll navigate procedurally generated dungeons. But remember, that won’t be easy at all.

Even though it’s technically a roguelike game, where currency allows permanent upgrades, it retains Rogue’s spirit in a better way. Here, you’ll face challenges that you’ll have to overcome with exceptional ability. For enthusiasts of action-oriented games, this sequel is simply a must-try.

3. Prey: Mooncrash

Prey: Mooncrash, a roguelike DLC for the 2017 game Prey, is ready to redefine your gaming experience. Set in a moonbase, this game is full of powerful enemies, hazards, and bosses. Loots are also there to collect and level up in the dark dungeon. You can try five distinct characters with individually unique abilities in subsequent runs.

dangers like typhoon threats and horror elements are almost everywhere, ready to make this game more challenging. Character development is another thing that makes it so popular. Besides not just on your PC, you can enjoy this game on Xbox One and PS4 as well.

4. Wizard of Legend

Wizard of Legend comes with a refreshing approach to roguelike gaming on PC. The game simply lets you dive straight into the action, where you’ll play as a wizard on an adventure to conquer the Chaos Trials. This is the only way to become the next Wizard of Legend.

On your want, the fan part will be navigating through dungeons, battling enemies, and gearing up for the final boss showdown. To be a powerful wizard, you can also earn points and collect loot. Also, when you adapt to each foe, your wizard will evolve to open new chapters.

5. Crown Trick

The next suggestion is Crown Trick. This rogue-like RPG for PC is famous for ultra-advanced animations and turn-based combat. The procedurally generated maze covers the entire gaming environment, where you will find yourself in different dungeon entries with a unique adventure every time.

In this game, you’ll be locked in tiny rooms where monsters are roaming to defeat you. You don’t have the full map, but with the appropriate strategic decisions, you can easily achieve it. You can use different Crown Tricks to uncover new challenges and defeat enemies in this skill-driven adventure game.

6. Children of Morta

Children of Morta is a familiar name, especially to gamers who love dark dungeons. This game is usually available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. Navigating randomly generated dungeons is the fun part of this game, where the best cave is Mount Morta.

Here, you can control the huge Bergson family, where each character has their unique styles and upgradable abilities. You can choose characters based on their distinct personalities, strengths, and power. However, from my end, the storytelling approach with mood-boosting sound effects should make this game different from others.

7. Slay The Spire

Slay the Spire for PC is a unique roguelike deck-building card game. So, if you love playing with cards, this should be on your checklist. With four exclusive characters, this game will provide you with different card types and builds. But unlike the common card games, it has challenging bosses at its core.

You’ll need to engage in battles to win new cards and gold. This is the way you can level your character up and survive in the future-focused relics. There will be some optional boss fights that you should try to gain better gear.

8. Monster Train

This recommendation list won’t be worth it if I don’t include Monster Train. It’s your must-try rogue-like deck builder for PC, where you’ll have the chance to train your own monsters. Here, you have to make your monster ready to safeguard the burning pyre from heavenly forces.

While training the monsters, you will have options to collect gold and points so that you can rush the training session. Besides, you can check the progression of the monsters by their ability scores. No matter whether you are a Steam lover or want to try it on your PC directly, this game is available in both places.

9. Darkest Dungeon II

Like before, Darkest Dungeon II continues the misery-filled legacy of its predecessor. With advanced visuals and comparatively difficult gaming mode, you will find yourself in a bleak world full of terror and anxiety in the dark dungeons. Navigating this place must be fun with the turn-based battles against your grim foes.

In this game, you can also make a party where the members aren’t just the shields but also the added layer of support on your way in the dark world. But remember, the roads are full of germs that will cause contracting diseases that will eventually elevate your adventure on the edge.

10. The Binding of Isaac

The final suggestion is The Binding of Isaac. It’s a quirky roguelike for PC even though it’s available on both PS5, PS4, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch. In this unique game, you will have to control a young boy who is in a war against bizarre enemies.

Here is a twist: his own mother will turn out to be his enemy at one point. But the weirdest part is the story is based on the exploration of extremism and reflects creator Edmund McMillen’s personal struggles with religion. So, there is no way you will find this game boring in the darkest dungeon.

Wrapping UP

The listed games are not arranged by managing any sequence. That’s why I don’t think that the first one will be better than all of them. So, just check the details and choose one or two to try them.

Remember that personal taste is different. So, you better search for these games to see their videos before you install them. This little effort can save you time. However, if you can’t just pick one, I suggest trying Monster Train, Hades, or Rogue Legacy 2. These three won’t make you bored.

So, that’s all about the best roguelike games for PC. Next time, I will review something different. Till then, stay safe and healthy. Thank you for your time.
